A recent article put out by the New York Times discussing technology and it changing the way students learn was assigned for us to read in class today. The article never showed the view point of the students sitting through the classes. The article was from the teacher's point of view and was blaming technology for the lack of attention that students give during classes. Most said that they were not going to change their way of teaching just because the student's lack focus. However, most of the teachers that were interviewed had been teaching for years. "“I’m an entertainer. I have to do a song and dance to capture their attention,” said Hope Molina-Porter, 37, an English teacher at Troy High School in Fullerton, Calif., who has taught for 14 years. She teaches accelerated students, but has noted a marked decline in the depth and analysis of their written work." With respect to this woman i feel as though maybe she would feel differently if she was a new teacher instead of a teacher who has been teaching for 14 years. Personally, as a student, I think that being able to pay attention depends on how the class is structured. If a teacher has a monotone voice I can't pay attention, it is extremely boring to sit there and listen to what seems like a very boring teacher teach a very boring subject and actually learn. I also think that if teachers want us to pay attention then they should try to center the lesson on how they can make it interesting. I would rather have 7 boring classes with 7 fun/ cool teachers than 7 fun subjects taught by some boring people who just seam to hate life. At least they are getting paid to sit through the boring stuff, we just get to sit there. Also, teachers complain that we don't focus and get distracted too easily but then they give us group projects, not everyone is the same, what may take 2 students 5 minutes may take another 2 students 15. How is it the fault of the students that get done early and have it done right that they talk about what their homecoming dress looks like or the dance that the dance team is going to do at the next game. Society has this really weird problem with blaming everyone when one person messes up. Just because technology is hurting some doesn't mean it is hurting everyone

So bacon has nothing to do with web communications however, blogger does. Blogger is a web 2.0 tool and this makes it something that we are studying. A blog is something that usually only one person maintains and in their blog they can talk about anything.

I have never blogged before. I believe, however, that blogging will be pretty interesting because it is something new.
